Using other libraries

It is always worth joining your local public library; you may even be able to do this through your school library.

Public libraries are offering more services all the time and they are all free:

The State Library of South Australia does not permit borrowing but provides a range of resources and services that are particularly useful for senior students. There is an extensive collection of foreign language resources, including newspapers. Anyone living in South Australia can register for access to free online databases from home.

University libraries are open to the community - you can visit and use their resources but a community borrowers card attracts a fee ($110 in 2008), which your school may be willing to pay for.

Similarly you can visit TAFE libraries but cannot borrow unless you are enrolled as a student in a TAFE course. The TAFE website also offers useful subject guides and LILI - an online information literacy  or research skills course.
